Fire Alarm System

IN CASE OF A FIRE – YELL “FIRE”, ACTIVATE THE NEAREST PULL STATION AND LEAVE THE BUILDING.  DO NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING UNTIL THE FIRE WARDEN INDICATES IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.

There are many types of Fire Detecting Devices and Systems on campus. They include; smoke and heat detectors and pull stations - as well as audible alarms like horns & visual alarms like strobe lights;

It is vital that these devices remain in good operating order and should never to be tampered with.

Our lives depend on the Life Safety Systems functioning properly – if you know of any fire alarm device or sprinkler head, that has been damaged or disabled please contact Facilities Management immediately there is no charge to our campus clients for maintenance repairs to Fire Protection Systems. Phone CSC at 966-4496

Another device that is operated by the Fire Alarm System in your building may be a Magnetic Door Holder. These devices allow the Fire Doors in hallways to remain open during normal conditions so the doors do not impede regular student mobility -- as they move from building to building or through areas that are engineered as fire separations. In the event of a fire – the Fire Alarm Panel sends a signal that causes these doors to close.

Not to worry, the door can easily be opened and no one can become trapped by a magnetic door holder.
