Operations & Maintenance
From minor repairs to averting major sewer disasters, the skilled and diverse tradespersons in the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) department, led by Dan Swerhone, work quietly behind the scenes to keep the campus running. Chances are you know our handy employees better than our official title.
We’re the caretakers who clean the offices. We’re the carpenters, painters and plumbers who upgrade the laboratories and classrooms. We do everything from keeping the building’s heating, power, and water and fire alarm systems in shipshape, to repairing furniture.
We manage the operation and administration of maintenance work requests and trouble calls.
Our department has skilled employees and trades people who take care of 100 major buildings, 510, 933 square metres of facilities on 766 hectares of land at the U of S.
The campus community relies on O&M for all forms of repair, maintenance, and renovation. We’ve organized our department so the most appropriate people can directly respond to your request:
